Delivering baby? This isn't possible is it?
So I'm watching an episode of Strange Sex, which is basically just small documentaries about people who may have odd behaviors in their body, or in this episodes case, they practice polyamory, where they have multiple partners who are all aware of each other.
So anyway, the woman wanted a baby and so one man got her pregnant. And they showed a clip of the woman and it looked like she was in a hot tub or a regular tub. And she looked like she was trying to deliver the baby. Her lower body was under water, and I kid you not, something was half out of her. #1 I can't figure out, why they would show this on TV. Obviously, nothing was easily defined because of the water, but technically you could see her naked. #2 I don't see what was going on. (The clip after she was holding a new born looking baby on her chest while STILL in the tub she was laying with her man) So it gives emphasis to the fact that it had to have been the baby sticking out. but she was underwater. Would this not drown the baby?
I'm just confused. Someone please try and explain what could have been happening

The answer is simple.
This is what's called "water birthing." It's very common, even among the monogamist. Lots of women opt to give birth to their babies in water. It's very natural considering the baby HAS BEEN in water for 9 months.
With the umbilical cord attached, the baby is still able to breathe… just like it does in the womb. It's only once the cord is cut that the baby begins to use its lungs…. so with the cord attached, mom and baby are just fine in the water.
Water birthing is actually supposed to be less stressful for baby's birth, as they are going from one water environment to another. AND, more relaxing for mom. As what is more relaxing… a cold, stark, hospital room… or laying in warm, soothing water.
You're right.. this is a common sense question.
